Danny Baker

Well hot news, I've been asked by Danny Baker's producer to do a portrait of Danny and the gang for the studio wall. Amazing how little one procrastinates when the incentive is a labour of love!

Watch this space for updates.

Introduction

Welcome to my blog

To be honest I have never thought about maintaining my own blog but having just tried to use dreamweaver until I got grey hair and lost the sight in one eye with frustration, I thought I'd try
this to showcase my work.

I understand that you can edit the HTML on this site... mmm, I'm all coded out so will just use it as is until my stay at the local mental health unit comes to an end and I have sufficient tranquilisers.

I will rant periodically no doubt, I would love a program to just do what it says on the tin but until then, here goes.

I am a mature fine art student and have just wrapped up the first year. As a result of this, I have the time to take commissions for portraits, illustrations and graphics.

So here's what I do

Portraits

I am interested in portraying people with facial differences. I am currently working on a series with the incredible Reggie Bibbs (below). Reggie has Neurofibromatosis. We've paired up to highlight the disadvantages encountered by people who are 'different'. He
is part of an organisation called 'Just Ask!' Check out his website.

General Portraits

Ming, rottenest old cat that ever there was but she was my rotten old cat and I loved her lots,
she even had the cheek to die on Rememberance Sunday so my chin will wobble at the sound of the last post.

Illustrations

I recently illustrated a book for J's hospice.

It received fantastic reviews including this one from Michael Bond, creator of Paddington Bear.

"If it is true to say that the proof of a good pudding lies in the eating, then the success of a book certainly rests within its covers. One cannot help but warm to Professor Pots' Ugglebuck Bird and his host of friends. The pictures jump out of the pages from the word go and leave you wanting to return to them again and again for the sheer joy of it. Helped along the way by a Dr Seuss-like text, the lights are set at green, for he is a very hard-to-put-down breed of bird."
